when the headphones go on, Magic happens
the experience
You put on the headphones.
The music drops.
Your body takes the lead.
The Joyset is a guided, judgment-free space where you’re invited to move how your body wants to move. No experience needed. No pressure to get it “right.” Just music, movement, and a room full of humans choosing to show up and take up space together.
Come as you are. We’re ready to welcome you.
Why Dance?
Because movement cREATES CHANGE.
Dance helps us release what we’ve been holding, access what words can’t touch, and reconnect to parts of ourselves that get quiet in daily life. When we dance together, something powerful happens. Walls come down. Joy multiplies. Connection becomes inevitable.
At The Joyset, dance isn’t about how it looks. It’s about how it feels.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
We dance, we sing, we connect! You’ll be welcomed into an opening circle, put on headphones, and be guided through a music-led movement journey. There are optional prompts along the way, time to move freely, and a closing circle to ground and integrate before heading back into your day.
-
Yes, but different :) We use silent-disco-style headphones so you can drop into the music and feel more freedom to move. Unlike a typical silent disco, The Joyset is all one channel, intentionally facilitated, and focused on connection, presence, and shared experience.
-
Nope. Absolutely not. There’s no choreography and no “right” way to move. The Joyset is about listening to your body and moving however feels good to you in the moment.
-
Expect a carefully curated mix that spans genres, moods, and eras. High-energy moments, soulful tracks, throwbacks, surprises, and songs that invite you to feel as much as move. The playlist is designed intentionally for each Joyset and theme.
-
Whatever you feel comfortable moving in. Think layers, breathable clothes, and shoes (or no shoes) that let you move freely.
Sometimes we offer optional themes (disco, color palettes, throwbacks, etc.) if you want to play and dress up. Participation is always optional. Come in theme and/or come in whatever feels most like you. All of it is welcome.
Comfort > costumes. Always.
-
Yes. Always. You’re encouraged to listen to your body. You can move the whole time, pause, sit, stretch, or simply listen. All of it counts.
-
Totally!!! Many people come solo. The opening and closing circles help create connection without pressure, and you’re always welcome to participate at whatever level feels right.

The Joyset happens in a variety of locations—parks, mountain tops, special venues, and sometimes unexpected places. Each event listing includes full details so you know what to expect.
Most experiences run between 90–120 minutes, depending on the event. Timing will always be shared ahead of time.
Our story
the joyset started on a mountaintop.
In 2023, founder Leigh Orne decided to celebrate her 41st birthday by renting silent disco headsets and inviting all her friends to climb a mountain, drink cacao, and dance their asses off. What unfolded was joy and the only question after was: when can we do this again?
What started as a birthday experiment turned into a collective “what if.” With the support of community, enough money was raised to buy 40 headsets and in November 2023, the first official Joyset was born.
Since then, The Joyset has been popping up in all kinds of spaces, sharing ridiculous amounts of joy through music, movement, and intentional gathering. What hasn’t changed is the heart of it: creating spaces where people can drop into their bodies, connect with each other, and remember how good it feels to move together.
Turns out, joy spreads fast.

Hi , I’m Leigh Orne! The human behind The Joyset.
As a kid, I loved singing at the top of my lungs and coming up with silly dance routines with my friends. Movement felt natural. Joy felt easy. Expression felt safe.
But somewhere along the way into adulthood, that part of me got quieter. Music slowly drifted out of my life and I became focused more on achieving than expressing. Without realizing it, I traded play for productivity and a piece of myself got left behind.
Until a few years ago, when I decided it was time to pick that piece back up. I started listening to music again, which led to singing… and before I knew it, my body just had to move.
I felt like a kid again.
And it was from that wildly joyful place I created The Joyset for Little Leigh, and for every person who feels that spark inside them too, even if it’s been buried for a while.
Whether we’re on a mountaintop or spreading joy through on the streets, my hope is simple: that you leave feeling more free, more connected, and more like the truest version of you.
